Safely Using The Inflatable
Information about the netted
windows:
-
All of our Air Castles and Slides have secure Safety Netting to
keep bouncers safely inside.
-
Generous use of high quality netting and thread, results in
safe, well ventilated Air Castles and Slides.
-
Integrated netted windows are in all our Air Castles and Slides
rentals so that the children are always visible inside the unit.
The netted windows can be a problem if
children are permitted to hold the netting while jumping. Be sure children are
not holding the netting or leaning on the side walls. Children's fingers and
teeth have gotten entangled on webbing which has resulted in injury to fingers
and teeth.
Information about the safety
step:
The children need to climb onto the safety
step and into the low doorway to enter the unit. To exit the unit the children
need to sit, or lay on their belly to slide feet first out of the low door and
onto the step. After they are sitting on the step they can get off of the step
in a controlled, safer manner.

Information about the socks and
shoes:
-
NJ law prohibits shoes, or any sharp objects in an
inflatable.
-
Socks are required to prevent the spread of foot borne
fungus. Have some extra clean socks around for guests that forget their socks.
-
If it rains and the inflatable has become wet, (even
though towel dried) socks are considered dangerous/slippery so they are removed.
Information about siblings, sizes and ages in the
inflatable:
-
Older children may not take their younger, smaller
siblings, relatives, or friends into an inflatable.
-
NJ law requires children be separated by size for their
safety.
-
There should be less than a 'head' difference in size
among the tallest and shortest children in a group of children about to use and
inflatable.
-
A taller child's knee is near a smaller child's mouth and nose
while jumping making it dangerous to be together.
-
A larger child's weight creates an unsafe bouncing experience
for a lighter child who would then be thrown about the unit with no ability to
control flight or landing.
-
A larger child may unintentionally land on a smaller child.
-
Children should bounce in their 'own area' to avoid bumping
heads.
Manufacturer Safety Rules:
-
Adult supervision of all children is
required at all times. We repeat it often because it is very important and can't
be said enough!
-
You will be provided a temporary copy of
the Owners Manual for the specific Air Castle and Slide you are renting. It is
the original and needs to be returned when we pick up the unit. Safety manuals
are now in a protective plastic pouch attached to the blower's handle.
-
While we are training you, we will go over
specific points from the manual with you.
-
You will be required to do a 'walk around'
where a staff person walks around the specific rented inflatable and shows you;
-
How your unit is anchored
-
How the blower is attached/reattached
-
How to turn the blower on/off
-
The emergency safety exit on your specific
unit
-
The manufacturer's information patch
including number of children permitted on the ride at one time.
-
Other items/issues specific to the
inflatable you are supervising.
-
You should familiarize yourself with the
remaining points in the manual, before the party begins.

Extract from Consumer Product
Safety Commission:
"The commission is aware of nine incidents, which resulted in 21 injuries, on
large slide-type inflatables and 33 incidents, which resulted in 33 injuries,
with bounce-type inflatables. These incidents were primarily attributable to
improper operation, anchoring and set up. Due to the number of injuries and
incidents involving inflatable rides and to reduce the number of injuries
through a more consistent industry-wide operation of all inflatable amusement
rides, the Commission staff issued this safety bulletin.
The Commission requests all owners, operators, state
safety officials and those firms that rent inflatables to private parties to
closely follow manufacturers instructions and guidelines for operation and
set-up. In addition, the following recommendations should be adhered to:"
-
"Minimum number of operators on an
Inflatable slide is two (2).
-
Minimum number of operators on a
inflatable bounce is one (1).
-
DO NOT exceed manufacturer’s
requirements for maximum loads for individual rides."
